Ben is an accomplished theatre director and actor with a career spanning decades across stage and screen. A graduate of the John Boiton Theatre School in Melbourne during the 1990s, Ben’s first major opportunity came not on stage, but in the director’s chair — successfully securing a professional directing role early in his career, a position that has since become central to his creative identity. Alongside his work as a director, Ben has consistently returned to acting, with a diverse range of roles across theatre, television, and film. Most recently, he played the lead in the upcoming New Zealand feature film Where’s Smoky?. He is known for his strong character work, often gravitating toward roles that require a comic sensibility or a distinct eccentricity. An experienced improviser, Ben brings confidence, creativity, and nuance to every performance. Outside of his artistic practice, Ben leads a dynamic, busy life filled with travel, teaching, family, and a number of creative pursuits — all balanced with a healthy dose of humour and curiosity. |
